As of September 2nd, Pluto is sitting at 29° of Capricorn, marking the end of its transformative journey in this sign.
This is a profound and monumental time for many reasons, the main one being that this is the last time we will witness Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto will not return to Capricorn until 2255, more than 230 years from now! This moment holds deep significance-not just as a farewell to Pluto’s Capricornian energy, but as the culmination of its 16-year voyage at the critical 29th degree.
In astrology, the 29th degree also known as the anaretic degree, symbolizes the peak of a sign’s energy. When a planet and/or a sign falls at the 29th degree, think of it as the energy is exhausted and exaggerated, unconsciously begging to finalize the lessons so that it can move forward. There is nothing left to learn here, when we are at the anaretic degree… but we must carry forward all of the knowledge and the wisdom we have gained for better or worse.
Pluto at 29° Capricorn: A Personal and Cosmic Closure
Pluto at the 29th degree (9/2-11/19), invites reflection: what key lessons have we learned? We are at the end of an era. It’s the climax of Pluto’s long tenure in Capricorn, beginning in 2008 and concluding now. During this transit, we’ve all grappled with ‘adulting’- taking responsibility, maturing and mastering control. This is Capricorn, ruled by the planet of structure and control… Saturn.
This journey has taught us profound and necessary (yet often difficult), lessons about authority, power and responsibility. Just look to the world stage, to those in positions of power. Look back to all of the ‘secrets’ revealed, the changes that we have experienced through banking and governmental institutions. Pluto’s ‘MO’ or Modus Operandi of disempowerment, awareness, and transformation has steered us through massive personal and collective growth. *In the above video, we go through Capricorn’s transit by houses a.k.a departments of life, so you can follow along and reflect upon your own unique journey with Pluto through Capricorn. If you do not know your birth chart placements, you can find them here.
Remember: we all have every energy, every sign in our chart & life, even if we do not have any planets there! In other words, we all are experiencing this Plutonian energy.
Cosmic Alignments: Harmonious Energies and Challenging Persuasions
What’s positive about Pluto’s transit at 29° of Capricorn is its harmonious sextiles to Neptune and Uranus, forming a Minor Triangle in the heavens. This stable, albeit subtle, astrological setup has provided a backdrop of support amidst global challenges. These three outer planets are referred to as “The Gods Of Change” or “The Hands Of Fate”. They operate deep and profoundly, but under the surface. These planets effects however, are long lasting. Above all else, this serves as a reminder that we can and will, survive. We will also build back and come back stronger than before. Important to mention that this aspect has been operating in the background for decades, so we are a somewhat accustomed to these energies.
As planet Mars is now in the earlier degrees of Cancer, by early November he will reach the critical 28-29°, triggering an opposition with powerful Pluto. Expect some intense confrontations to arise. In the United States, this falls right during a very defining time. Regardless of what transpires collectively, which may affect us personally, the overarching message is clear: fiercely protect what you hold as yours, and never forget your roots. These are strong messages of the archetype of Cancer, the protector, the defender and in Mars, a fighter.
*I have much more to say about the ending of Pluto in Capricorn, especially as his journey begins in Aquarius, come November. I will come back with my insights for that next month.
